Syntax: !gzip infile [outfile]The will compress the file given as infile using the gzip method. If outfile is not given, output is written to a file with the same name as infile but with a ``.gz'' extension. Otherwise, the file name given for outfile must have a ``.gz'' extension. Under Unix/Linux this uses 64-bit file offsets so can be applied to files larger than 2Gb, unlike some versions of the GNU gzip utility. Unlike the GNU gzip program, this will not delete infile.
